The AstroGrid Community
These pages are intended to develop a sense of online collaboration for AstroGrid users - news, workshops, science calls, and a space for sharing your own scripts and tools with other users. Here are the starting links :
Becoming a registered user
You can do much of what you need using AstroGrid software anonymously, but there are two major advantages of registration - the ability to use VOSpace, and access to proprietary data.
When you register, you do so with a particular "community" - typically this is a list of registered users in one particular institution, administered locally. So far there is only a handful of such communities, but we expect the list to grow. The community you join determines, for example, whether you have access to UKIDSS. As the VO identity becomes increasingly recognised, data centres will also use this to tell whether you are the owner of proprietary data. Finally, you can use the system to define "groups" so that your collaborators can see a given set of data in VOSpace, but nobody else can.
If you want an account, please email signup @ astrogrid.org to request a username. In your registration email please include your name and academic department. (NB: this information will remain confidential to the AstroGrid project)
