AstroGrid Science Call May 2007

The supported programmes from the May 2007 Tools Call

The AstroGrid Science Advisory Group, in July 2007, selected the following three proposals to be supported through the AstroGrid May 2007 Tools Call

  • Archiving the newly reduced Hipparcos astrometric catalogue Floor van Leeuwen (IoA, Cambridge)
    • The new Hipparcos Reduction is has been published through the VO.
    • A poster describing this work was presented (Witherick et al) at the RAS NAM 2008 in Belfast (Apr 2008) - see the abstract P26/554.
  • SED Service: Proposal for a SED Fitting Application in AstroGrid Paresh Prema (IoA, Cambridge)
    • The prototype SED workflow is being used by Prema in advanced of wider publication.
  • Enabling access to the transient sky in petabyte surveys Steve Smartt, Seppo Mattila, Rubina Kotak, A. Pastorello, David Young (Queen’s University), Martin Ward, Chris Done, Jonathan Gelbord, John Lucey, Ulisses Barres de Almeida (Durham), Josh Bloom (UCB), Ken Chambers (PS1 project scientist, !IfA, Hawaii).
    • A workflow has been created which will allow for classification of events from PanStarrs 1. A presention (Young et al) was given at the RAS NAM 2008 meeting in Apr 2008 - see the abstract P26/301
