AstroGrid Workshops
We run two types of event : half-day workshops, and two-day workshops.
The half-day workshops are aimed at astronomers learning to use the software. A small number of AstroGrid staff will visit your institution. The event starts typically with a half hour seminar and short demo, which can be widely and openly attended by anybody who is interested. Following this, staff and students who have registered in advance try out the software, with AstroGrid staff on hand to help out and solve problems. A set of web pages are set up in advance with worksheet material, space for comments and so forth.
Two day workshops are either more technical events - such as training for data centre staff or system administrators who wish to deploy AstroGrid software - or science user events with a more specialised focus, such as scripting.
Since the public release (April 2008) we have been focusing on the half-day workshops, but will return to occasional two-day workshops in due course. If you would like to learn more about using AstroGrid and would like a workshop at your institute please contact us - send an email to Nic Walton (naw at ast.cam.ac.uk).
