Virtual Observatory Workshops
AstroGrid is part of the Euro-VO partnership. Workshops are organised by the Euro-VO Facility Centre, which is led by ESO and ESA. AstroGrid provides software, and staff to run tutorials. Historically AstroGrid ran its own UK-based workshops, but we now encourage all users to participate in the Europe-wide workshops.

Previous AstroGrid workshops
Historically, AstroGrid ran two types of event : half-day workshops, and two-day workshops.
The half-day workshops were aimed at astronomers learning to use the software. A small number of AstroGrid staff visited your institution. The event typically started with a half hour seminar and short demo, open to anybody who was interested. Following this, staff and students who registered in advance tried out the software, with AstroGrid staff on hand to help out and solve problems. A set of web pages were set up in advance with worksheet material, space for comments and so forth.
Two day workshops were either more technical events - such as training for data centre staff or system administrators who wished to deploy AstroGrid software - or science user events with a more specialised focus, such as scripting.
After the public release of AstroGrid v1.0 (April 2008) we focused on the half-day workshops.
