VOExplorer/ View
Show Metadata Browser
This is equivalent to the blue-arrowed 'toggle' button at top left.
If you have created a list of resources you can refine the selection further by selecting terms from the standard description of the resource (VO Registry entry).
For example, the VO Taster list (one of the examples located under resources) contains 5 entries. Clicking on Show Browser in the View Menu, or on Toggle, pulls down 3 panels which allow choices from the standard VO description sections. Each panel will show, for example, all the entries for each dataset (or other resource) which are under the Registry heading Content-Subject or Coverage - Waveband.
Under Content - Subject select surveys - this reduces the list to 2 datasets.
To return to the full list, press toggle again.
Notes:
- The top of each of the 3 subpanels is itself a menu so you can select different categories to refine.
- Not all datasets and tools have full registry entries yet, so if you can't find what you want have another look at the unrefined list or try a different method of selection.
Columns
This allows you to select how much of the dataset or tool description is displayed at once.
Show technical system resources
This option is primarily aimed at people who maintain the AstroGrid system or resources published to the system. It allows a search to reveal the intermediate resources (for example the component which controls a web service, as well as the user interface).
Refresh
If you have displayed a list of search results, Refresh will repeat the search in case any new resources have just become available.
Halt search
Does just that (during a search to create a list of datasets or tools, a Halt bar also appears on the right).
