VOExplorer / Window
The Window menu is separated into three sections. The top section is used to open new windows (and hence sessions) of the four main VO Desktop tools: VOExplorer, File Explorer, Task Runner, All-VO Astroscope, Helioscope and New Multi Position Search. In the middle section of the menu, options are provided to open the VO Desktop Self Tests and Background Processes windows. The bottom section of the menu lists the name of all open VO Desktop windows. A more detailed description of each option is provided below.
New VO Explorer
When this option is selected a new VO Explorer window will open. A new VOExplorer VO Explorer window may be also be opened using one of the following (operating system dependent) keyboard shortcuts: Command-1 (Mac OS X), Ctrl-F2 (Windows and Linux).
New File Explorer
When this option is selected a new File Explorer window will open. A new File Explorer window may be also be opened using one of the following (operating system dependent) keyboard shortcuts: Command-2 (Mac OS X), Ctrl-F3 (Windows and Linux).
New Task Runner
When this option is selected a new Task Runner window will open. A new Task Runner window may be also be opened using one of the following (operating system dependent) keyboard shortcuts: Command-3 (Mac OS X), Ctrl-F4 (Windows and Linux).
New All-VO Astroscope
When this option is selected a new All-VO Astroscope window will open. A new All-VO Astroscope window may be also be opened using one of the following (operating system dependent) keyboard shortcuts: Command-4 (Mac OS X), Ctrl-F5 (Windows and Linux).
New All-VO HelioScope
When this option is selected a new All-VO HelioScope window will open. A new All-VO HelioScope window may be also be opened using one of the following (operating system dependent) keyboard shortcuts: Command-5 (Mac OS X), Ctrl-F6 (Windows and Linux).
New Multi Position Search
When this option is selected a new Multi Position Search task window will open. A new Multi Position Search window may be also be opened using one of the following (operating system dependent) keyboard shortcuts: Command-6 (Mac OS X), Ctrl-F7 (Windows and Linux).
Self Tests
When the VO Desktop is started it performs a number of Self Tests to check whether it can connect to vital AstroGrid services and thus determine the level of service it can provide; selecting this option will open up the Self Tests. Please read the page on Self Tests for further information.
Background Processes
When this option is selected it opens the Background Processes window, which lists all the Virtual Observatory processes the VO Desktop is performing in the background (such as querying the registry). Please read the Background Processes for further information.
List of Open Windows
The name of any open VO Desktop windows will appear in this final section of the window menu. To change to a different window, select the appropriate name in the list.
