Previous Releases
This page describes access to previous releases of the AstroGrid Desktop software. Note that the user software and the server side software are now numbered separately.
Current 2010 versions
The current versions of the user software are VODesktop 1.3.2, Topcat 3.5, and AstroGrid Python 1.0.4. The current version of the server side component suite is V2009.1
Earlier 2008-9 releases
During 2008-9, there were several earlier releases of the user software. For VO Desktop these were numbered V1.3 V1.2.3.1, V1.2.2, V1.2.0, and 2008.1 (the initial April 2008 release). For Topcat, they were V3.4, V3.3, and V3.2. For AstroGrid Python they are V1.0.3 and V1.0.2. All these versions continue to work. All your bookmarks and annotations will be preserved, and Python scripts should work unaltered. Note however that the latest version of VO Desktop includes some changes to the way descriptive information about VO resources (metadata) is presented. This means that some old "New Smartlist" style searches may not work.
During 2008 we also released an updated version of the server side component suite, V2008.2.
Initial 2008.1 release of AstroGrid Desktop suite
The first official release of the AstroGrid Desktop suite was made in April 2008. This involved versions numbered as VODesktop 2008.1, Topcat V3.2, and AstroGrid Python V1.0.1. All these versions still work fine, but there were significant improvements to functionality as well as bug fixes in later releases, so we recommend that users update to newer versions. Note that all your bookmarks and annotations will be preserved, and Python scripts should work unaltered.
2008.1 beta of AstroGrid Desktop suite
There are some users using the pre-release beta version of the 2008.1 software. This continues to work, but such users should upgrade, as many features have improved and bugs been fixed. Bookmarks will be preserved, but some users running scripts may find problems, because the end-points for some services have changed in the change made to the V1.0 Registry in April. We cannot provide support for the beta version, or guarantee that it will continue to work, and strongly recommend that any such users change to the current version as soon as possible.
Earlier AstroGrid releases
Since 2005, AstroGrid has released a variety of prototype or testbed working systems, first using a web-based portal, and then using the AstroGrid Workbench. All such prototype releases are now deprecated and are no longer supported.
