This page describes access to previous releases of the AstroGrid Desktop software.

2008.1 beta of AstroGrid Desktop suite

A number of users have been using beta version of the 2008.1 release since January 2008. Changes between the beta and release versions include the following. (i) Slightly improved version of the VODesktop application. (ii) Use of the new V1.0 Registry, as opposed to the old V0.10 Registry. (iii) Use of the new VOSpace 1.0 protocol.

Most existing users can simply convert to the release version immediately - for example their VOExplorer bookmarks will be picked up. However some users who have been running scripts may find problems, because the end-points for some services have changed in the V1.0 Registry. We will therefore keep the beta release available for two months, but recommend that such users update their scripts as soon as possible.

Earlier AstroGrid releases

Since 2005, AstroGrid has released a variety of prototype or testbed working systems, first using a web-based portal, and then using the AstroGrid Workbench. All such prototype releases are now deprecated and are no longer supported.

Use of any data discovered or accessed through AstroGrid should of course be mentioned as noted by the data providers.
