Summary of VO Resource Columns

  • Status: The status columns tries to provide some indication of the current status of the VO Resource: the information is provided by the VOMon Virtual Observatory Monitoring service (http://vomon.sourceforge.net/). means that the resource is up and working, means that the resource is down and means that the service is unknown to the monitoring service. Note that maintenance of the VOMon service is known to produce incorrect service status so this column should be considered as a guide only.
  • Title: The title of the VO Resource.
  • Capability: Describes the type of service or services that the VO Resource provides; each icon represents a different type of service. Please see Summary of VO Resource Capabilities to find out which icon refers to which type of service.
  • Date: The date that the VO Resource was last updated.
  • Short Name: A short name provided for the resource e.g. "2MASS-PSC" is the short name for the "2MASS All-Sky Point Source Catalog".
  • Subject: The subject of the resource e.g. survey, infra-red astronomy etc.
  • Publisher: The publisher of the resource e.g. AstroGrid.
  • Contact: The email contact for the resource. This is typically the individual who deployed the service and can be useful if a mistake has been spotted in the data.
  • Creator: The individual or group who created the data. Sometimes this column will contain the same name as the Publisher column and sometimes it will be left blank.
  • Id: The IVORN or International Virtual Observatory Resource Name of the VO Resource.
  • Type: A textual description of the service provided by the VO Resource as opposed to the graphical representation of the service provided in the "Capabilities" column. For more information, read the section above describing the "Capabilities" column.

  • Version: A version number for the VO Resource. Most VO Resources do not provide a version number.
  • Flag: Individual VO Resources may be "flagged" so that the more useful resources are easier to find in the lists (information on how to do this is included in the Actions and About pane). When a resource has been flagged, a will appear for it in this column.
